PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome) is a group of physical and emotional symptoms linked to the menstrual cycle.
Physical symptoms include:
- acne
- breast swelling and tenderness
- lower abdominal pain
- swelling and fluid retention
- headache
- backache, etc.
Emotional symptoms include:
- fatigue
- tension
- irritability
- mood swings
- anxiety, etc.
PMS symptoms usually occur in the week or two weeks preceding menstruation and for the most part disappear after the onset of menstruation. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists nearly 85 percent of menstruating women experience PMS symptoms varying degrees. Fourty percent of women have symptoms severe enough to disrupt their normal daily activity. For some women, PMS is a debilitating condition that renders them virtually incapacitated by their symptoms.
Available treatments for PMS are mainly anti-symptomatic in nature and either provide only limited results and/or have significant side effects. The EVE System is designed to treat the root cause affecting the totality of symptoms associated with PMS.
